OTCC attended the 1st ASEAN Heads of Competition Agencies Meeting (AHCA)

JAKARTA, 11 OCTOBER 2021 – Prof. Sakon Varanyuwatana Ph.d., Chairperson of Trade Competition Commission, and Mr.Akarapon Houbcharaun Ph.d., Director of Foreign Affairs division, participated in the 1st ASEAN Heads of Competition Agencies Meeting.

ASEAN member states (AMS) agreed to strengthen and cooperate particularly in the issue of Competition Law and Policy (CLP). During the meeting, Chairperson presented and discussed the concerning issues of enforcing Trade Competition Act in Thailand, such as harmonizing the competition law, the role of OTCC during the Covid-19, emerging issue in the digital market, and SMEs.
As response to the meeting, ASEAN member states (AMS) has committed to launch the joint statement to deepen ASEAN cooperation and development of Competition law and policy among AMS.
